Main Components of Grass Ash
Its main component is potassium carbonate, which is almost all the mineral elements contained in plants in general. The potassium content of the ash is relatively high, usually around 6%-12%, 90% of which is water soluble and exists in the form of carbonate. Next is the content of phosphorus, which is usually around 1.5%-3%. In addition to these, it also contains iron, copper, magnesium, sulfur, zinc and other nutrients.
What Kind of Fertilizer is Grass Ash
Grasswood ash fertilizer contains almost all the mineral elements contained in plants because it is the ashes of burning plants.
Grass wood ash can be used as a fertilizer, and it is also a common agricultural fertilizer, which can be used to sterilize and prevent pests and diseases. It is also an organic fertilizer, suitable for acidic or clay soils, and can be used as a mulch for seedlings. It is also a potash fertilizer because of its high potassium content.
It is an alkaline fertilizer and should not be used together with acidic fertilizers or farmyard manure. If it is to be sprayed on the leaves, it needs to be filtered before use so that it will not pollute the leaves and flowers of the plants.
The Role of Grass Ash
The role of grass wood ash is great, whether it is vegetables, flowers, or fruit trees can be used. It can prevent diseases in fruit trees and has a very good sterilization effect. When using it for flowers, it can promote flower buds, keep the soil loose, and better promote rooting.
How to Use Grass Ash for Fertilization
1. Apply alone. It cannot be mixed with organic farm fertilizer (human manure and urine, stable fertilizer, composted fertilizer, etc.) or ammonium nitrogen fertilizer to avoid loss of nitrogen volatilization; nor can it be mixed with phosphorus fertilizer to avoid phosphorus fixation and reduce the effectiveness of phosphorus fertilizer.
2. Soil application. Because it is alkaline, soil application to clayey soil, acidic or neutral soil is appropriate. Soil application can be used as a base fertilizer, seed fertilizer and fertilizer, can also be used for seedlings, seedling cover (cover seed fertilizer). As a base fertilizer, seed fertilizer, the amount of fertilizer should not be too large and should be isolated from the seed to prevent burning seed. The amount of mu is generally 50-100 kg. Soil application to focus on the application is appropriate, using strips and holes can be applied, the depth of 8-10 cm, after the application of soil. Mix 2-3 times of wet soil before application or spray wet with a little water before use.
3. Extra-root fertilization. More than 90% of the potassium contained in charcoal ash is soluble in water and is a fast-acting potassium fertilizer. According to this characteristic, it can be used for extra-root fertilization, i.e., foliar spraying with charcoal ash leachate at a concentration of 1%.
4. Priority crops. Charcoal ash is suitable for various crops, especially for potassium-loving or potassium-abstaining crops such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, tobacco, grapes, sunflowers and sugar beets. It can be used for potatoes, not only for soil application, but also for dabbing potato wounds, so that it can be used as seed fertilizer and prevent wound infection and decay.
