The nutrients contained in organic fertilizer are not all-purpose. Organic fertilizer contains more kinds of nutrients, which is an advantage compared with chemical fertilizer with single nutrient, but it does not contain balanced nutrients and cannot meet the needs of high yield and quality of crops. Organic fertilizer has long-lasting effect and slow release of nutrients, so it is usually applied as base fertilizer. When deep plowing, the application of organic fertilizer facilitates the integration of soil and fertilizer, promotes the formation of soil mass structure, can effectively improve soil physical and chemical properties and increase soil permeability.

The decomposition of organic fertilizer is slow and the fertilization effect is late. Although organic fertilizer has a full content of nutrients, the content is low and decomposes slowly in the soil, so it is difficult to meet the needs of crops for nutrients when the amount of organic fertilizer is not very large. And inorganic fertilizers generally have relatively single content, easy to decompose and be absorbed by crops, but the latter is not enough. Therefore, organic fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer should complement each other in order to complement each other.

Organic fertilizers need to be fermented. Many organic fertilizers have germs, insect eggs and weed seeds, and some organic fertilizers have organic compounds that are unfavorable to crop growth, so they should be composted and fermented and processed before application, and raw manure should not be put on the ground.

The use of organic fertilizer taboo. Mature organic fertilizer should not be mixed with alkaline fertilizer and nitrate nitrogen fertilizer.
 
Organic fertilizer is best applied with biological fertilizer regardless of base application and flushing. The biological bacteria in biofertilizer can accelerate the decomposition of organic matter in organic fertilizer, making it more beneficial to crop absorption, and at the same time, it can decompose and transform some harmful substances in organic fertilizer, avoiding them to cause harm to crops. Generally, when base application of organic fertilizer, 150-200kg of biofertilizer can be applied with each mu, and 20-25kg of biofertilizer can be applied to each mu as a follow-up application.
