How to Use Farmyard Manure Correctly

Compost: Fertilizer made from weeds and garbage, which can be used according to local conditions, preferably combined with spring and autumn plowing as a base fertilizer.

Green manure: It is best to be used as a base fertilizer or chasing fertilizer for leguminous crops, using the nitrogen fixing effect of rhizobia to improve soil fertility.

Sheep manure: It is preferable to mix with pig manure, suitable for cool soil and shady land. It contains 24-27% organic matter, 0.7-0.8% nitrogen (N), 0.45-0.6% phosphorus (P2O5) and 0.4-0.5% potassium (K2O). Sheep manure contains more organic matter than other livestock manure, the manure is fine and the fertilizer is thick. Sheep manure fever is between horse manure and cow manure, also belongs to the hot fertilizer.

Pig manure: Organic matter and nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content are more, and the rotted pig manure can be applied to various soils, especially for well-drained hot damp soil. It contains 15% organic matter, 0.5% nitrogen (N), 0.5-0.6% phosphorus (P2O5) and 0.35-0.45% potassium (K2O). Pig manure has a fine texture and a complex composition, containing proteins, fats, organic acids, cellulose, hemicellulose and inorganic salts. Pig manure contains more nitrogen and has a small carbon to nitrogen ratio (14:1), which is generally easy to be decomposed by microorganisms, releasing nutrients that can be absorbed and used by crops.

Horse manure: Higher organic matter, nitrogen and cellulose content, contains high temperature fibrous decomposition bacteria, ferments quickly in the pile, high heat, and is suitable for wet and clayey soil and shady land and soil with serious slabbing. It contains 21% organic matter, 0.4-0.5% nitrogen (N), 0.2-0.3% phosphorus (P2O5) and 0.35-0.45% potassium (K2O). The composition of horse manure contains more cellulose and hemicellulose, in addition, it also contains lignin, protein, fats, organic acids and a variety of inorganic salts. Horse manure is coarse and loose in texture, and contains a large amount of high-temperature fibrous decomposition bacteria, which can produce high temperature in the process of regulation, and is a hot fertilizer.

Cow manure: It is typical cool fertilizer, dry cow manure and mix with 3-5% wood ash or phosphate mineral powder or horse manure for composting, which can accelerate the decomposition of cow manure and improve the fertilization effect, and it is better to use with hot fertilizer or apply in sandy loam and sunny slope. It contains 14.5% organic matter, 0.30-0.45% nitrogen (N), 0.15-0.25% phosphorus (P2O5) and 0.10-0.15% potassium (K2O). The organic matter and nutrient content of cow manure is the lowest among all kinds of livestock, with fine texture, more water, slow decomposition, low heat generation, and is a late-effect fertilizer.

Human manure and urine: After fermentation and maturation, it can be used directly, and it can also be mixed with soil to make manure soil for chasing fertilizer.

Poultry fertilizer: It is the general name of chicken manure, duck manure, goose manure, pigeon manure, etc.. The nutrient content of poultry manure is higher than that of livestock manure and urine, and the nutrients are more balanced. It can be used as seed fertilizer and chasing fertilizer, and is most suitable for vegetables.
