The cyclone dust collector is simple in structure, has no moving parts (except for the ash unloading room), and is relatively easy to operate and manage. However, the dust removal efficiency will be seriously affected in the event of wear, air leakage, blockage and other failures.

For cyclone dust collectors, if the operating parameters deviate too far from the design parameters, it will be difficult to achieve the expected dust removal effect. The inlet air velocity of the dust collector is a key parameter. For dust collectors of the same size, the inlet gas velocity increases, not only the processing gas volume can be increased, but also the separation efficiency can be effectively improved, but the pressure drop also increases.

In addition, when the concentration is high, the gas velocity increases, the abrasion is also intensified, the particles will be crushed and become fine, and the life of the dust collector will be shortened. Therefore, the commonly used inlet gas velocity is selected between 14~20m/s. The inlet velocity of the dust with high concentration and fine particles should be smaller, and vice versa.

The inlet mass concentration of dusty gas also has a non-negligible effect on the separation process. When the concentration is high, the large particles of dust have an obvious carrying effect on the small particles of dust, and the efficiency is improved. However, because the factors affecting efficiency are particularly complicated, there is no calculation expression for the influence of inlet mass concentration on efficiency. For mechanical dust removal, the mass concentration of the discharge outlet will not increase proportionally with the increase of the mass concentration of the inlet.
