Zinc Fertilizer Application Attention to the Five Taboos

Zinc Fertilizer Application Attention to the Five Taboos
I. Do not Apply Blindly
Zinc fertilizer is effective only when applied to zinc-deficient plots and zinc-sensitive crops, so the application of zinc fertilizer should vary from place to place and from crop to crop, and should not be applied blindly. Generally speaking, when the effective zinc content of the soil is lower than 0.5 mg/kg, the application of zinc fertilizer has a significant effect on yield, while when the effective zinc content of the soil is higher than 1 mg/kg, the application of zinc fertilizer has little effect on yield. The most sensitive crops to zinc are rice, corn, sorghum, soybeans, tomatoes, etc., and medium sensitive crops are potatoes, onions, sugar beets, etc., for these crops should pay special attention to the application of zinc fertilizer.

II. Avoid Excessive Application
Zinc fertilizer is a microfertilizer, the crop needs less of it, more can not be applied, lack of not. The amount of the application will be too much for the crop to produce toxic effects. Zinc fertilizer as a base fertilizer, according to the degree of zinc deficiency in the soil, generally 0.5 to 2 kg of zinc sulfate per mu; as a follow-up fertilizer, 0.75 to 1 kg of zinc sulfate per mu, mixed with an appropriate amount of fine soil scattering; root spraying, 90 to 180 grams of zinc sulfate per mu to 60 kg of water on a sunny day spraying.

III. Do not Apply with Phosphorus Fertilizer at the Same Time
Zinc and phosphate fertilizer mixed with the formation of zinc phosphate precipitates, not only reduce the effectiveness of zinc fertilizer, but also reduce the effectiveness of phosphate fertilizer.

IV. Do not Mix with Alkaline Fertilizers and Pesticides
Zinc fertilizer mixed with alkaline fertilizers such as lime, grass ash, ammonia, etc. will show a chemical reaction between the acidic ions and alkaline ions and reduce the effectiveness of the fertilizer. Similarly, zinc fertilizer mixed with alkaline pesticides such as Bordeaux, lithosulfur compound and turpentine compound, the effectiveness of zinc and pesticides are reduced.

V. Do not Apply it Year after Year
Zinc fertilizer has very little effect in the year after application, but it can only be fully effective in the second year, which is what people call "zinc fertilizer has after-effects", so zinc fertilizer does not need to be applied year after year, but generally in alternate years.
